Artist's Description
A lioness stalks the camera in Samburu National Reserve in Kenya. This African lion was laying under a bush when we came upon her. After several minutes she got up and walked toward the jeep. She stood a few feet away from the jeep and stared the camera down. She then proceeded to walk away and start stalking a small herd of impala.
These big cats are one of the big five animals that tourists want to see when the go on a safari. Lions are in almost every environment on the African continent. They are known for staying in prides, but the lions in Samburu tend to live on their own or in pairs due to the scarcity of wildlife to hunt. Seeing lions can be a major highlight of any safari.
