Artist's Description
Taken at the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Mine Creek in Mound City, KS.
A horse stands at attention as a cavalry reenactment unit goes through maneuvers. The animal wears tack that would have been typical of the American Civil War. Reenactments like this serve as a reminder of one of the darkest periods of our past, but also how far we have come. The photograph is set in black and white which would have been typical of the time period the event represented.
