Artist's Description
Taken in Samburu National Reserve in Kenya.
After waking up from a nap this lioness goes to work. She is seen stalking a herd of impala in perfect camouflage. The lioness blended in perfectly and as she hunted it became increasingly tough to keep up with her because she blended in so well with her surroundings.
In Samburu many of the lions lived by themselves like this one. It was not uncommon to see lions living by themselves, it was more rare to see lions together. Due to the climate and limited amount of prey they survive better in small numbers or on their own.
Pamela Peters is the owner of Wild Radiance Photography. She is a wildlife and nature photographer from Richmond, KS. She is also an author and public speaker.
